How to Get the Pinterest Aesthetic With Stock Videos
Pinterest has two moods: picture-perfect styling and effortless cool-girl. Here's how to get either look on your Reels with stock video you're actually allowed to post.

Open Pinterest and scroll for ten seconds. Every pin that stops you is doing one of two things.
It's either picture-perfect: the outfit styled down to the angle of the sunglasses, the flat lay where every ring has been placed with tweezers. Or it's effortless cool girl: the unmade bed, the half-eaten croissant, the pile of gold jewellery thrown on a bedside table like it's nothing.
Both look completely different. Both make you want to hit save. And both are surprisingly hard to find in stock footage.
Why most stock can't do Pinterest
Traditional stock was made for brochures and corporate websites. So it's horizontal, lit like a studio, and full of models smiling straight down the lens. Business shirt guy laughing at his salad has never once been pinned to a mood board.
Pinterest-style footage needs the opposite:
- Vertical, framed for a phone.
- Natural light, soft and warm, not flat and bright.
- A calm, minimal palette of creams, neutrals, black and the odd pop of colour.
- Real textures like linen, knit, marble, ceramic and suede.
- Hands and details, not faces performing for the camera.
- Space for your hook or caption to sit on top.
That's exactly what we built the Vault Socials content bank around. It's minimalist on purpose, because that clean, neutral base is what every Pinterest look is built on. Then the styling and the edit decide which mood it becomes.
Getting the picture-perfect look
This is Pinterest as a magazine. Everything is intentional.
Clips to look for:
- Outfits coming together: a belt, a bag, earrings, the perfect loafer.
- Flat lays from above: sunglasses, lipstick, keys and a coffee, all in one palette.
- Manicured hands doing something small and pretty, like clasping a necklace or tying a scarf.
- A slow walk in a good coat, filmed from behind.
- A styled table with linen, ceramics and one perfect pastry.
How to edit it: a clean serif or minimal sans font, slow cuts, a soft warm grade and calm audio. Let the clip breathe.
Best for: fashion, jewellery, beauty, boutique hotels, interiors, anything that sells taste.
Getting the effortless cool-girl look
This is Pinterest as someone's camera roll. It looks unplanned. (It was planned. That's the trick.)
Clips to look for:
- A bed that's been slept in, with a coffee and a book face-down on the side table.
- Handheld walking shots through a market or down a street.
- Jewellery or makeup scattered, not arranged.
- Getting ready in the mirror, hair half done.
- A croissant with a bite out of it, lipstick on the cup.
How to edit it: lowercase text, quicker cuts, a touch of grain, a little more contrast, and audio that sounds like a good night out.
Best for: lifestyle brands, cafes, fashion with attitude, creators, anything that sells a feeling.
Pick one per video
You can use both moods on the same account, just not in the same Reel. A simple split that works: picture-perfect for product posts and your grid, cool-girl for Stories and trend Reels.
Why not just screenshot Pinterest?
Because most of those pins don't belong to the person who pinned them, and posting them on a brand account can get you a takedown, a demand letter or worse. Here's the full explanation. Short version: no, sweetie.
